The Montana State football team has begun each of the last three FCS playoffs against familiar foes.
In 2022, the Bobcats came off a bye with a second-round game against fellow Big Sky Conference team Weber State, which played at Bobcat Stadium earlier that season. MSU also started the 2023 playoffs in the second round at home, this time against North Dakota State, which ended MSU’s seasons in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 postseasons. Last year, the Cats hosted UT Martin in the second round, three years after beginning their run to the national title game in the second round against the Skyhawks.
That run of recognition will end at noon Saturday, when No. 2-seeded MSU (10-2) will host unseeded Yale (9-2) in the second round. The Big Sky champion Cats, coming off a bye, are 28-point favorites
