NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WIS/ WCSC ) — North Charleston Police have arrested a man for swinging a sword in a neighborhood on Thursday, WCSC reported.

Joshua Dorman, 47, was arrested and charged with aggravated breach of peace and threatening the life of a public official, North Charleston Police say.

Officers were dispatched just before 4:30 p.m. to the Spencer Creek Woods neighborhood after several callers reported that a man was swinging a sword and hammer. This caused several residents to distance themselves from Dorman.

The first officer who arrived at the scene saw Dorman swinging a three-foot-long medieval-style sword in the roadway.

Police say Dorman surrendered without incident after stabbing the sword into the ground.
