The ads claim that “Republican tariffs have generated billions” and ask voters whether they support rebate checks funded by that revenue. But no legislation authorizing such payments has passed, and the underlying tariffs themselves remain on legally shaky ground.

Trump has repeatedly admitted that his rebate-check plan is in jeopardy as the Supreme Court weighs whether his sweeping emergency-powers tariffs were lawful in the first place.
