Troy Stecher has quickly made a good impression with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The 31-year-old began the 2025-26 season with the Edmonton Oilers, but struggled to get into the lineup. He dressed for just six games before being placed on waivers in mid-November, where he was scooped up by the Leafs .
The Oilers coaching staff didn’t appear to have much confidence whatsoever in Stecher, as he averaged less than 14 minutes of ice time in those six contests. Since going to Toronto, it’s been a much different story.
Stecher has been in the lineup for all eight games since joining the Maple Leafs, and he has by no means been eased in. In fact, he’s logged north of 23 minutes in each of the Leafs’ past three outings, and is averaging 19:11 minutes in total.
