Pacogan State Park Home To Historic Toboggan Run
I spent almost five years near Angola, Indiana, and even hiked in Pokagon State Park once. I had no idea this state park had a historical Toboggan Run. Thought up in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps Company 556, they were simply bored and decided to build a wooden toboggan run for their own fun. No clue what a toboggan is? Check out the video below. Modified many times over the years, the original run had a curve that led to the lake, but that was the most excitement you got from it. The following year, the run was straightened to increase speed. In 1938, a tower was erected near the Inn, and a second track was added in 1940.
