JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) - Missouri’s attorney general warns that excitement for World Cup tickets creates prime opportunities for scammers to target fans.

Attorney General Catherine Hanaway says global interest from billions of fans creates an environment for fraudsters to exploit eager ticket buyers.

“Excitement is high, but so is the potential for fraud,” Attorney General Hanaway said.

Attorney General Hanaway recommends fans buy tickets only through trusted, well-known platforms to avoid becoming victims. Before purchasing from resellers, consumers should call the Consumer Complaint Hotline or check with the Better Business Bureau for complaints or red flags.
