NEWBURGH, N.Y. — A Marlboro man was sentenced to six years in prison on Wednesday in connection with a stabbing in the city of Newburgh in March, the Orange County District Attorney’s office announced Friday.

In a press release, District Attorney David Hoovler said Marvin Hampton, 26, of Marlboro, was sentenced in Orange County Court to six years in prison to be followed by three years of post-release supervision, following a guilty plea to felony assault.

Authorities alleged that on March 13, at around 4:30 a.m., Hampton approached two men on William Street in the city. After asking for the identities of the two men, Hampton “punched one of the men who attempted to run away,” the release said.
