HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The measles virus was detected for a second time in wastewater from West Maui County, the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.
The virus was initially detected in wastewater samples from Central and West Maui on Nov. 18, with the latest detection from samples collected on Nov. 30.

No confirmed cases reported
Measles has not been detected again at the Central wastewater treatment site, health officials said.
While the detection does not confirm clinical cases of measles, health officials advise medical providers to remain on high alert for symptoms.
State officials urge the public to stay up to date on the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
