The state Department of Ecology is holding an open house Wednesday to introduce its new cleanup team and unexploded ordnance expert for the county-owned Camp Bonneville property. The county’s public works staff will also be on hand to answer questions.
The open house begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Hockinson Middle School cafeteria, 15916 N.E. 182nd Ave.
Ecology staff will discuss ongoing cleanup efforts to remove pollution and unexploded munitions at the former U.S. Army base. Following the presentation and informal Q&A session, residents can provide public comment on Ecology’s draft periodic review report, the first report it has produced for the site. The comment period remains open through Dec. 31.
