Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is forcing a vote in the House of Commons over the proposed new oil pipeline to the West Coast, in a move that could expose divisions within the Liberal caucus.
Mr. Poilievre’s party will use a day devoted to opposition business on Tuesday to debate a motion about the memorandum of understanding between Alberta and Ottawa signed last week .
The motion asks the House of Commons to declare its support for a pipeline enabling the export of Alberta bitumen from a B.C. port, including lifting the oil tanker ban, while respecting the duty to consult Indigenous peoples.
The language comes directly from the agreement signed by Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premie
