HAMMOND, La. —
Advocates, neighbors, and faith leaders gathered at the Black Heritage Center in Hammond Thursday night to discuss intervention measures and mentorship programs following the recent killing of Jermaine Stevenson.

Community members and law enforcement participated in the town hall following his death.
"People do care, and people are concerned. And we want to build a better building block here in Hammond, Louisiana. Because I've lived here for many years and I've never seen the crime that I see now," said Tasha Robinson, who attended the town hall.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker was grateful for the community involvement.
