BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is offering general-season deer and elk tags through a nonresident tag drawing for the first time.

IDFG announced Friday applications for general-season hunts in 2026 are now open. Nonresident hunters can apply for tags from Dec. 5-15. Results will be announced in early January, and hunters who draw tags must claim them by Jan. 20.

All hunters must buy a 2026 big-game hunting license to apply, and Fish and Game said the license is nonrefundable. A separate drawing will offer 500 deer and 300 elk tags for disabled American veterans.

Tags are available for elk, regular deer and white-tailed deer by elk zone or hunting unit, according to IDFG.
