The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has issued a public safety warning following the release of Larry Maxwell Stanford, 74, a convicted sex offender deemed at high risk of reoffending.
Stanford is returning to live in Edmonton after completing a jail sentence for a violent sexual offence committed in 2017.
Police say Stanford’s history, which includes a sexual offence, an aircraft hijacking, and an attempted murder, contributes to their assessment that he poses a significant risk.
He will be monitored by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit and is subject to a strict series of court-ordered conditions governing his movements, contacts, residence, and daily activities.
EPS encourages anyone with concerns about Stanford’s behavior in the community to contact police at 780-423-4567.
