The CDC’s vaccine advisory panel has overturned its longstanding recommendation that all newborns receive a hepatitis B shot. The new guidance calls for vaccination only if the mother tests positive for the virus, with other infants beginning doses later in infancy. The panel was appointed earlier this year by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has questioned vaccine safety.
