Who’s No. 1?

Of course, the No. 1 team in the state won’t be determined until the Team Championships in February, but right now it’s hard to see anyone as the odds on favorite besides Jackson Township.

After having won the Girls Wrestling Coaches Association Team Championship last winter as Jackson Memorial, the Lady Jags were ranked at the top of the NJ.com Top 10 at season’s end.

Memorial has now merged schools with Jackson Liberty. While that has led to a slight name change, the Jags lineup should look remarkably familiar as only one wrestler has graduated from the 2024-25 championship squad.

The Jags will feel the loss of 138 pounder Dominique Lopez, who won 34 matches a year ago, but with five returning state place winners among the 11 front line returnees, Jackson looks in solid
