A Lancaster County man has pleaded guilty to several charges after he severely injured a pedestrian while driving with more than five times the legal limit of alcohol in his system , according to the district attorney’s office.
Around 10:40 p.m. Oct. 18, 2024, Tyler A. Stewart struck a pedestrian along the 1500 block of Oregon Pike in Manheim Township. He told police he was running late to pick up his girlfriend from work.
The pedestrian suffered a “traumatic brain injury and many broken bones, including but not limited to the pelvis and spine,” according to police. They were intubated for several months after the crash.
Stewart later told investigators he had consumed a pint of vodka hours before he got behind the wheel.
Stewart’s blood alcohol level was 0.437% — more than five time
