INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother pleaded guilty Friday to neglecting her baby girl, Harmonnie Jones, who died of blunt force trauma nearly three years ago. The admission came during a change-of-plea hearing that lasted nearly three hours.
"I'm not guilty of harming my child, but I will say that I'm guilty of neglect because I didn't see,” Jayda Styles said.
The judge said he believed Styles was genuinely remorseful before imposing a nine-year sentence, which includes six years in prison and three years of probation. Styles has been in jail since she was indicted in 2024. The judge considered time served, and she will be eligible for good-behavior credits, so it’s unlikely she will spend an additional six years in prison.
