GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It was controversy in the state capital Friday afternoon, as members of the public lined up to speak before the Michigan Public Service Commission in Lansing.
The MPSC could soon consider whether to fast-track special contracts requested by DTE Energy under what's called "ex parte" approval.
"That means that the utility comes before the commission without other parties intervening, and MPSC staff is involved in reviewing the case," MPSC Chief Operating Officer Mike Byrne explained in a presentation posted to the MPSC's YouTube page on Thursday.
The two contracts have to do with providing power to a proposed data center set for Washtenaw County. The customer for the contracts, according to documents, would be Green Chile Ventures LLC - a subsidiary of technolo
