MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - Middle Tennessee State University students are mourning the death of a professor.
Ashleigh McKinzie, 41, was killed in a shooting Thursday morning, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. She was reportedly found shot multiple times roughly 50 miles away from campus.

“Considering, how fierce of an advocate she was for non-violence and for her to go so violently has been very jarring for all of us,” MTSU student Olivia Kilpatrick explained.
Authorities say she was found with a gun next to her. Officials also reported that a man was at the scene and in possession of a weapon when they arrived.
