No team in college basketball has been better in nonconference play over the last half-decade than Purdue.
Since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, the Boilermakers are 48-3 in nonconference games during the regular season, including 7-0 this season. They have won a program-record 36 nonconference games in a row at Mackey Arena since their last loss in such a game, in November 2019 against Texas.
If there is a team that approaches Purdue’s record of out-of-conference dominance, however, it is Iowa State. The Cyclones are 51-6 in such games during the regular season since the start of 2021-22, the only team besides the Boilermakers with fewer than seven losses in that span.
