MADISON, Wis. -- It is, without a doubt, the most hotly-contested rivalry in women's collegiate hockey. When No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 2 Ohio State lock horns, you can always expect a thriller and Friday was no difference.

The Badgers took first blood in the first meeting of the season between the two squads, winning 2-1 in Columbus. Caroline Harvey's third period goal proved to be the winner.

Both teams went scoreless in the first period, but Wisconsin finally found the breakthrough in the second frame. A tripping penalty on Ohio State's Sara Swiderski put the Badgers on the powerplay.

Wisconsin took full advantage, putting pressure on the Buckeyes' defense. It paid off when Adéla Šapovalivová backhanded the puck across the crease and into traffic. It got caught up in some Buckeye skates
