Several North Jersey towns are receiving grants in state Attorney General Matthew Platkin and the Division of Highway Traffic Safety's annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which aims to prevent impaired driving during the holiday season.
HTS is providing $703,500 to 125 law enforcement agencies around the state. The money will go toward the mobilization of targeted enforcement efforts between Dec. 5 and Jan. 1, specifically by increasing patrols and checkpoints.
"Nobody wants an empty seat at the holiday table. Impaired driving is completely unacceptable and can have devastating consequences," Platkin said in a press release Dec. 5. "Police across the state will be out removing impaired drivers from the road to protect New Jersey families during the holiday season."
