New Delhi: Indian Railways has added more train coaches and approved special services to support thousands of passengers affected by large scale flight cancellations across the country. The move comes after IndiGo faced a major disruption in its operations due to shortage of crew and scheduling issues, which led to a sharp increase in demand for train travel.
According to officials, 116 additional coaches have been added to 37 trains across different zones and 114 extra train trips are planned over the coming days. These include sleeper coaches, general second class and air conditioned chair car compartments. This step is expected to help around 35000 extra passengers every day.
