WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In the heart of downtown Waukesha, dozens gathered celebrating more than just the holiday spirit.
“Just how everyone pulls together and stays together,” said Andy Gretke, a Waukesha resident.
For Waukesha residents, this time of year is about coming together.
"Why?" said Gretke. "Because we are Waukesha strong. We stay together, we work together, we play together, we celebrate together."
The ceremonial tree lighting is the beginning of the city's holiday festivities, with preparation underway for its 62nd Annual Christmas Parade.
This year marks four years since tragedy struck the parade in 2021. The community is continuing to heal.
