Michael Annett, a former NASCAR driver who won an O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Daytona International Speedway in 2019, died Friday at the age of 39.

Annett drove the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports from 2017 to 2021 in the competition formerly known as the Xfinity Series.

Talent agency Rising Star Management Group, which represented Annett, announced his death in a social media post Friday night.

“We are sad to have lost a family member,” the agency wrote . “Michael Annett will always be in our hearts. Our thoughts are with the Annett family at this time. Rest in peace MA.”

JR Motorsports, co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller, said Annett played an important part in the growth of the racing organization.
