A cheetah cub was discovered dead just a day after being reintroduced into the wild at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, according to a forest official's statement.
The release into the park's free-ranging area took place on International Cheetah Day, led by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who released female cheetah Veera along with her two cubs. Unfortunately, one cub strayed from its family overnight and was found deceased.
The deceased cub was around 10 months old, and the exact cause of its death will be determined upon autopsy results. Meanwhile, Veera and her remaining cub are reported to be in good health, and the park currently hosts a total of 28 cheetahs.
