A contractor working on a 310-foot radio tower died on Thursday after a large chunk of the structure fell to the ground.
The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. on Murray Avenue in Atlantic City’s Venice Park neighborhood.
A section of the radio tower fell to the ground as three men were working on its upper portion, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a statement on Friday night.
Police did not identify the victim or specify the circumstances of his death. Two other workers involved in the incident did not suffer serious injuries, officials said.
A separate piece of the tower became suspended and was hanging near the top of the structure. Police have established a perimeter around the tower until the piece can be safely removed.
