WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Union Rescue Mission is recognizing one of its volunteer chaplains who used to be homeless.

Three years ago, Aaron Laswell arrived at Union Rescue Mission homeless and just out of prison. Now, he helps other men have another chance in life.

“Not too far back, I’d be just getting out of prison... But instead, God decided to make me a chaplain and have me serve here,” Laswell said. He has just completed 250 hours of service as a volunteer chaplain.

“Out of all the times that I’ve been incarcerated, got out, being you know, in drugs or being homeless... This is the one thing here that has actually worked and got me back on my feet,” Laswell said.
