LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - Laurel Police Department is gearing up for annual ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ effort.
The three-week campaign will run from Thursday, Dec. 11, to Thursday, Jan. 1.
Laurel Police Department will have checkpoints set up for those driving under the influence, as well outstanding warrants.
LPD Chief Earl Reed said the public can expect to see police all over the city, not just in one particular location.
Reed said that the campaign had been very successful over the years, but there still were some obstacles in the way.
“It kind of bothers me to see someone post on Facebook, ‘Hey, the police are over here with a checkpoint,’” said Reed. “That could ruin somebody’s life. If the police are over here and the driver is going to go that way, they’re going to detour a
