Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar received several new animals and birds on Friday as part of an ongoing exchange programme with the Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Zoological Garden in Surat, Gujarat.

In an earlier phase of the exchange, Nandankanan had already acquired a silver pheasant, an Indian star tortoise, an Indian grey wolf and five smooth-coated otters. The otters’ arrival marks their return to the Bhubaneswar-based zoo after nearly 25 years; records show they were last housed at the facility in 2000. The exchange was approved by the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi.
