At 4:54 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 7:30 a.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
"Scattered light bands of snow are moving through the area from southwest to northeast. In areas where temperatures have been below freezing for several hours, snow could stick to untreated roads and cause slick conditions. For Long Island, where temperatures are a bit warmer, mainly plain rain has been observed. Patchy light freezing rain/drizzle remains possible through the early morning hours for much of the area.
