Firefighters are battling what is being described as a large fire at the former St. Catharines Standard building on Queen Street.
The blaze at 17 Queen St. in the city’s downtown core started Friday night as fire services was called to the scene at about 11 p.m.
Crews found a working fire on the upper floor of the building, which then extended through to adjacent areas of the building, said a media release from the city.
A portion of the roof of the building has collapsed and firefighters were continuing to try and get the fire under control on Saturday.
No injuries have been reported, said the city, and fire officials indicate there are no safety concerns at this time due to smoke.
