WARDELL, Mo. (WSIL) -- A woman is dead after crashing into a bridge near Wardell.

The MIssouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on December 5, at 6:50 a.m., along Missouri Highway A, roughly half-a-mile south of Wardell in Pemiscot County.

State police said a 35-year-old woman from Hayti was driving a 2009 Kia Optima going north when the vehicle ran off the road and hit a bridge.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Assistant Pemiscot County Coroner at 8:12 a.m.

State police said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
