RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man accused of killing his 5-year-old son nearly two years ago was sentenced Friday to 30 to 37.5 years in prison, according to WNCN.
Amir Hines pleaded guilty to the death of Karter Holloway, who died after suffering blunt force injuries to the head in a case prosecutors said involved medical neglect.
Raleigh police told WNCN that Hines assaulted Karter on Dec. 31, 2023, while the boy was staying with his father and Hines’ girlfriend. Investigators said Hines delayed seeking medical attention, stopping to get food for a friend before taking Karter to the hospital. The child died the following day.
Karter’s grandmother, Tiffany Holloway, spoke in court, according to WNCN.
