KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department said an investigation is underway after a man was found dead outside of a home Saturday morning.

According to KPD, officers went to a home in the 1900 block of McCalla Avenue just after 8 a.m., where they found a man dead from a gunshot wound in the backyard.

Based on the findings of the investigation, KPD said it’s believed the victim, who has not been identified, was shot by another man following a physical altercation. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

KPD said a suspect is not in custody, but detectives are pursuing strong leads.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
