EMERADO, N.D. – A complaint filed by the city auditor of Emerado against the city's mayor has led to the formation of a mediation board to decide how the two parties will communicate with each other in the future.
The Emerado City Council will hear the board's recommendation for communication between Mayor Jake Lanes and City Auditor/Clerk of Court Janelle Klava on Monday. The mediation board, which met on Dec. 1, included three members: one person chosen by Klava, one chosen by the City Council, and a third chosen by the other two mediation board members.
The exact details of the recommendation have yet to be confirmed, but Klava, who attended the board's meeting, said she felt the recommendation was “very biased.”
“It was very one-sided,” she said.
