SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Police are asking the public to avoid a Scottsdale neighborhood due to an active barricade situation.

Several officers and tactical units responded to a home near McDowell Road and 48th Street for an active barricade situation. Police say that the incident involves a man who allegedly committed domestic violence-related crimes.

Officers say that while the incident is contained to the home, people should avoid the area. Scottsdale PD says the roads into the neighborhood on Willetta Street are blocked and that nearby homes have been evacuated safely.

“We have been using negotiators and announcements directed towards the residence for over an hour, but have not established contact with him. The suspect could choose to peacefully surrender at any time,” Aaron
