Chicago police were investigating after a man was fatally stabbed in the West Loop on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident was reported at approximately 1:08 p.m. along West Jackson Boulevard near South Desplaines Street. Police said a 54-year-old man was discovered on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his chest.

He was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

No one was in custody as Area Three detectives continued to investigate.
