A 37-year-old Fort Payne man is being accused of abusing the corpses of two Fyffe women.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, along with Powell Police and paramedics, says they responded to the 200 block of County Road 158 in Fyffe on Thursday, December 4 after hearing reports of two dead women inside a home.

Detectives identified 79-year-old Ruth Genett Rowland and 76-year-old Charlotte W. Harper as the deceased. Sheriff Nick Welden said both bodies were abused, but did not specify how.

Investigators connected Oliver Nick Harper to the alleged abuse and arrested him for actions taken "in the days after the deceased died and prior to their discovery."

The case is still active, and additional charges may be pending.
