The University of Toledo saw a 45-38 deficit at the end of the third quarter expand as Northern Iowa secured a 68-52 women’s college basketball victory Saturday at Savage Arena.
The host Rockets (3-4) and the Panthers (4-4) were tied at 11 after the first period with UNI owning a 27-23 advantage a halftime.
With Toledo trailing 48-44 with 7:42 remaining, Northern Iowa went on a 12-0 run for a 60-44 advantage with 3:17 left. The Rockets were never able to recover.
The Panthers made 10 of 16 field-goal attempts in the fourth quarter, including going 3 of 5 on 3-point efforts.
The Rockets held a 23-21 edge with 2:52 left in the second quarter before UNI tied the game and then took over the lead for good at 25-23 with 1:45 remaining in the half.
