The Boston Red Sox have made their offseason wishlist pretty public.

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow told the world about his intentions to add another top-of-the-rotation pitcher and a middle-of-the-order bat — but there’s one sneaky need that also needs to be addressed.

Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo have already been acquired to potentially fight for those spots at the top of the rotation. Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber are popular candidates to be added to the heart of the batting order. Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock need someone to help them get through the late innings, however, and the options have dwindles in recent weeks.
