Kyiv: Russia launched one of its biggest overnight missile-and-drone assaults across Ukraine on Saturday, striking dozens of locations as Kyiv and Washington prepared for a third day of talks aimed at ending the nearly four-year war. The attacks coincided with Armed Forces Day and came even as negotiators reported limited progress on a postwar security framework.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia fired 651 drones and 51 missiles, triggering nationwide air raid alerts. Ukrainian defences shot down 585 drones and 30 missiles, but 29 locations were hit.

At least eight people were wounded, including three in the Kyiv region. Drone sightings were reported as far west as Lviv.
