Visakhapatnam, Dec 6 (PTI) South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad on Saturday wholeheartedly admitted that the use of the word ‘grovel’ took the sheen away from his team’s landmark Test victory over India, but maintained that he intended no “malice” with that term.

Conrad made the controversial remark after the fourth day of the second Test at Guwahati when Proteas were right on top of the match, and the word with a racial overture stirred the hornet’s nest.

“I think on reflection, it was never my intention to cause any malice or not be humble about anything. How could I have chosen a better word on reflection? Yeah, I could have been smarter,” Conrad said in the post-match press conference here after the third ODI.
