Neighbourhoods throughout Darlington are set to benefit from a £20 million injection aimed at enhancing local amenities and creating improved prospects for inhabitants. The town forms part of the Government's Pride in Place initiative, which will channel £19,539,000 into the area across the coming decade.

Officials from the council have pinpointed five "left behind" localities earmarked for the investment: Bank Top, Branksome, Northgate, Red Hall and Skerne Park.
