HAWTHORNE – A man was arrested on a possible gun charge this morning after barricading himself in an apartment in Hawthorne, authorities said.
The Hawthorne Police Department requested a Sigalert at 6:20 a.m. Saturday closing El Segundo Boulevard between Prairie Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard due to the situation, the California Highway Patrol reported. The Sigalert was requested in response to a radio call of gunshots in the 4100 block of El Segundo Boulevard.
“Upon arriving in the area, officers heard several additional gunshots and what sounded like a firearm being `racked,”‘ police said in a statement.
