The good news for Rutgers basketball: It will not get any harder than this past week.
The bad news: The Scarlet Knights are 0-2 in the Big Ten after absorbing a 101-60 shellacking at third-ranked Michigan Saturday. This coming on the heels of a 16-point home loss to No. 1 Purdue.
Unlike against Purdue, when Rutgers played mostly even with Purdue for the first game’s 10 minutes and much of the second half, the Scarlet Knights were outclassed from the tip in Ann Arbor.
That’s not surprising. Michigan won the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas by routing No. 12 Gonzaga (by 40 points), No. 21 Auburn (by 30 points) and San Diego State (by 40 points).
