A North East train station remains one of the least used in the UK, despite passenger numbers increasing in the last year. Acklington railway station recorded 856 entries and exits between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, according to figures from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
It makes it the 38th least used station in the country. However, this marks an improvement on last year's figures (April 2023 to March 2024) when the station ranked 27th on the list of the 50 least-used stations nationwide.
The data published this week shows entries and exits at the station increased from the 550 recorded last year. Meanwhile, passenger numbers also increased in Newcastle, which ranked as the busiest station
