The boys cross country team from Niwot High School didn’t just defend their national title from the previous season.
On a soggy Saturday in Portland, Oregon, they recorded the lowest-ever boys score since the first Nike Cross National in 2004, winning with 61 points.
Quinn Sullivan and Hunter Robbie led the way in the top 10, finishing fifth (15:05.09) and sixth (15:11.10), respectively. Robbie was second at the state meet last month (15:06), followed by Sullivan in third (5:14).
Niwot’s girls finished second, five points behind winner Wayzata (Minnesota). Addy Ritzenhein finished 32nd overall (17:59.20) but eighth among runners on a team.
“The kids had a blast and raced like champions,” Niwot coach Kelly Christensen said. “So proud of both teams.”
