Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is encouraging the Michigan Public Service Commission to give swift approval for the DTE Energy Co.-backed hyperscale data center proposed for Saline Township. The company has requested an “ex parte” motion.
But she has lost her credibility to fast-track a project that deserves full public scrutiny.
The 250-acre, 2.2-million-square-foot project proposed by OpenAI, which created ChatGPT, and cloud computing company Oracle would provide construction jobs and local tax revenue.
