ANN ARBOR — The Wolverines had a team weightlifting session after Saturday’s blowout win over Rutgers. Apparently a Big Ten basketball game wasn’t challenging enough.

All jokes aside — Michigan’s workout was because its next game is Tuesday and exams start next week — the 101-60 victory looked effortless for the Wolverines, who have made a habit of breaking the opponent’s spirit before halftime.

Coaches often say their teams are never as good as they look in games like this and never as bad as they seem in lopsided losses. But Michigan has now won four straight by at least 30 points and reached 100 in three straight, a first for the program since the 1988-89 national championship season.
